Here is my finished poster to celebrate the 100th year of GF Smith paper. It has a striking grid structure based on the union jack. I have created a 3D poster because of the malleability of paper Richard Sweeney has introduced me to. Pleating has been using on the massive vertical number 1, a trick which Richard Sweeney taught me, which looks really effective with the shadows and highlights, this is also the main centre column of the union jack.
The company name has been stencilled onto a curved strip travelling horizontally across the page. This looks really interesting with the purply shadows coming through from the layer below. The number 100 isn't very bold as I tried making it really prominent and it ruined the grid structure and seemed to take over the whole image, subtlety makes the poster alot smoother and less thrown together.
The blue which represents scotland in the union jack has been created using coned circles of blue paper. I experimented using the same shape and size cones but GF Smith paper wants to show its diversity and the difference of the cone shape, size and rotation shows this whilst also making some awesome shadows on the paper. I played around with the lighting direction and found that softened light from the left worked the best! I think the poster is pretty sweet :)
